Partnerships
As
a not-for-profit organisation, Anchor Staying Put receives part
of its funding in the form of a central grant from the Department
of Communities and Local Government (the Government office that
oversees Home Improvement Agencies) and the remaining funds are
supplied through partnerships with the local authorities via housing,
environmental health and social services departments as well as
charitable trusts, voluntary organisations, the police and business
partners.

All
of our Agencies respond to meet the needs of local older people
and through our partnerships we have been able to develop a number
of complementary services. Over half of our Agencies now operate
a Small Repairs or Handyperson Service and at some we have also
developed home safety, home security, energy efficiency and gardening
schemes.

Through our partnerships we help to:
- Target
limited grant resources at those most in need and often least
likely to apply for help.
- Release
housing, social services and health officers from detailed work
supervision and problem solving, giving them more time to tackle
other problems in their community.
- Achieve
cost savings by preventing moves to residential care.
- Reduce
the likelihood of accidents and illness resulting from poor housing
conditions - thus reducing the expense of hospital visits.Develop
new models of private sector finance to fund repairs and improvements
where grants are limited.
- Improve
energy efficiency levels, in support of government policy; speed
hospital discharge by ensuring patients return to safe, suitable
conditions.
- Help
regenerate communities by improving housing conditions, fight
crime and fear of crime through homesecurity measures.
Our
advisory service is free and if you are visited by a Caseworker
they will offer confidential advice and support on how to access
the various relevant services and organisations in your area.
